Sheriff Davis and His Leadership Team Begin Planning for New Jail Transition

Last week, Sheriff Davis and his correctional leadership team participated in training on the importance of establishing a New Jail Transition Team — a vital component in the move to the new facility.

Constructing a new jail is a rare and complex undertaking. Transitioning into the new facility involves far more than simply turning a key and stepping inside. Every detail — from construction and inmate movement to updated policies that reflect the new environment and the secure transfer of more than 100 inmates in just a few hours — requires careful planning and coordination.

Sheriff Davis stated, “Building this much-needed facility must be done with long-term sustainability in mind, ensuring it serves our taxpayers for decades to come. We’re committed to a process that is both cost-effective and mission-driven. This transition team will develop new operational strategies and provide training to prepare staff for the changes ahead.”

This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity — one that Sheriff Davis and his staff embrace with dedication and pride, determined to get it right.
